Milk & Cookies

It's the start of June, but the weather makes it feel like the middle of winter! As the rain hit my windows & the thunder rolled, all I did was sleep in this morning. Weather like this also makes me want to bake even more!

I had a mostly lazy day, but I managed to get in my 3 mile run for Team In Training! My mentor, Eli said "We run no matter what because cancer doesn't stop on a rainy day so why should we?!?" As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm training with TNT to run the Nike Women's Marathon this October.Training is going well so far! (I promise this tangent has a purpose; keep reading! )

Anyhow, by the afternoon, I was bored. And, when I'm bored, I bake! I decided on two types of cookies today: Chocolate Chip and Toffee Pecan.

The chocolate chip came out perfectly! Crisp on the outside, but thick & chewy on the inside.

Perfect with a glass of milk!

Next I made toffee pecan. I created this one on a whim, and it worked out amazingly!

A lot of texture in this cookie. Crunchy from the pecans, but chewy from the toffee. Perfect combination! Definitely my new favorite.

And now, the reason for my tangent earlier! To help with fundraising for TNT, I am now selling baked goodies! :) From cake pops, cupcakes, and cookies, to leche flan - I'm selling them! Full list of products, prices and pictures will be up later this week. Please give at least two days notice for orders! More information under the Contact tab.

Proceeds go directly towards The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!
If you would like to donate without placing an order, please do so here http://pages.teamintraining.org/rw/nikesf11/sesver

Happy baking,

Cake Pops

Cake Pops- cute, bite-size pieces of cake, dipped in chocolate, on a stick. I wanted to try and make the latest craze in the cake world, so I started out with the basics- vanilla cake, dipped in chocolate and decorated with white chocolate. They are easy to make; however, they take some time to make! I found that patience is key when making these pops. I plan on making them again; testing out different flavors and decorations.

Also, have I mentioned that I'm running in the Nike Women's Marathon this October? I have been thinking of combining my two loves- running & baking- to help me achieve my fundraising goal. I will be selling cake pops and other goodies as part of my fundraiser. A list of products I will sell along with prices will be up in a future post, so stay tuned!

For now, please check out my other site and some pictures of the cake pops!
